It only takes two to party!

Sam came to me about 8pm begging to stay up until midnight. I had a steroid treatment today and am suffering the nasty side effects and almost said no. I had a memory enter my mind of guacamole, nachos, soda, Mr. Salty pretzels and banging pots at midnight. We didn't have a lot of money growing up but Mom always made sure holidays were fun. New Years always had a great spread of goodies and at midnight eight tired kids and a very exhausted Mom would venture out to the front porch and bang pots and pans as loud as they could to welcome the new year. As a kid it was a blast but I now realize the effort my Mom had to put forth to create something fun for her kids. If my mom did it with 8 then surely I could handle 1. Jake and Mike were already asleep, Jake recovering from minor surgery and Mike from an early day at work. We played twister and I even took a turn, vertigo and all. We had apple juice and left over pizza(I was not planning on a party).

The time is 10:35 New Years Eve and I am the only one awake. Another side effect of steroids is insomnia. Sam checked out about 10:00 . It is the latest he has ever stayed up. We are either really responsible parents or really boring. Anyway, Happy New Year, I am going to take a Tylenol Pm and go to bed. We will bang pots next year.

Thanks for the invite Kerry. I started a blog and Martin is putting finishing touches on our family web site. You can link to it through Kris and Garity's site. I'm not sure how to send the invite yet and as far as I know, at least for now, anyone can view it. You are such a trouper Kerry! Thanks for being such a great example. Love ya! Hol

What's going on with Jakers???? We used to bang pots as well but that's one tradition I didn't bring into our family. I would hang children from the rafters (including husbands) if they even touched my pots! I may have to get some pots especially for banging if we decide to start doing that just so we can bug the crap out of our stupid neighbors here in Mexico.
