I love my garden. It is so much more to me than growing produce, though I love it for that too. I was watching a victory garden episode on PBS and realized what a geek I had become. I just think that making something beautiful and useful out of dirt and water is very cool.

Can't wait for Halloween so we can carve pumpkins!

Jake meditating in the corn. He has a very active imagination

For all of you garden buffs who are wondering why I planted in the shade...this is very early in the morning and it gets full sun by 11:00.
We had Mike's family over for a BBQ and fireworks. Everyone in our neighborhood but us shoots off illegal fireworks. My brother-in-law Brady gave us a pretty good legal show and we were able to enjoy our neighbor's illegal ones for free!

Brady and Ryan were the official lighters. They are both nuts about fireworks.

My nephew Trevor. I think this sparkler was a dud but he doesn't seem to care.

The kids getting their sparklers lit. Take a look at Sam's shoes. The boy has bigger feet than I do. Mike's "little" sister Natalie is standing to the side. All of my brother's are close to 6 feet. Don't let my lack of height fool you, Sam is going to be a giant. He won't stop growing or eating.

I love all the pictures. Grandpa McMillan has just got to be loving your love of gardening, Kerry! And Jake meditating in the corn is a "classic"!!! I think it could win a prize...seriously:-)
Sam is getting *taller* -a lot! Huge shoes. What size are they? Loved your post. Mom
Wow! Your garden looks awesome! I wish I had a garden like that.
Thanks for the pics Kerry
Wow- your garden looks amazing! Ours has officially died now that we're in the 100's here and rising- I'm finding the heat is not good for our garden or for pregnant people...I am swollen all over and ready to have a baby. Some days the only time we go outside is to get the mail, and i send one of the kids!:) Heather
I am living vicariously through your garden posts since my gardening days are postponed the remaining time we are living in Mexico. You have really done an amazing job with yours.
Just a warning, you'll know you've hit uber geekdom when you start noticing plants in movies, tv shows and pictures and not only do you notice them but you think that's the most exciting thing about it. Then your husband won't watch movies with you because you say "wait! rewind that, was that a Shigitatsu Sawa Japanese Maple she just walked by?"
It's so much fun and we should really get together and swap some 'garden porn'...I mean seed catalogs.
Do your boys love seed catalogs? My poor geeky boys read them to keep occupied in the car. I don't let them have gameboys, so I guess that's the next best thing.
